A Nerd is a Nerd

Yes, i am a nerd. Since i was a child, i love reading more than almost anything. When other child want a Barbie or a Plushie as their birthday presents, i want books. I had read practically anything at sixth grade; Disney comics, mangas, child stories, teen novels, adult novels, magazines, gossip tabloid, even some porn.. >_<

Don`t blame me, i just naturally curious child... :P

Around two years ago, i started to stop reading. Lack of good books published here; hell, more than half books published were a fanfiction of KPop idols. Lack of friends share the same love to read and suddenly i find out that i haven't buy a single new book for more than a year.

Tonight, looked at my bookshelf, with more than a hundred books (not include ones borrowed and never returned) i just thought i need more places to put my tumblers collection; i started to collect tumbler a few months back, let's save that story for some other time. So, why don't i sell some of my old books? I get money, get some place to put my tumblers, and i think i will never re-read that books again.

I started to posted some pictures and explanation about the books condition i want to sell. One thing lead to another, (and i am naturally curious, remember?) instead of just posting and stopped there, i browsing a little about some of my favorite authors (John Grisham, Daniel Keyes, etc) and accidentally found their books i haven't read yet. I also found  and learned about 'play book'.

It was like my fingers disconnected from my brain and moved as they wish. I don't even realized when i clicked the 'buy' button and bought some books. -_-!!

Now i can't stop reading again, and actually i quite excited to finish the books i bought. Maybe buy some more later. I think i still a nerd at heart... XD

Ps. I know my English is sucks, i just want to try to write in it. But, what do you expect from someone who never talked in English for almost all their life though? And that someone also never had a good grade for English when they were at school... XD

Tua atau dewasa?

Hmmm... Gw salah satu generasi tahun 80'an yang di tahun 2000 belasan ini mulai menginjak usia akhir 20'an.

Saat sedang hangout bersama dengan teman-teman, topik yang paling sering muncul adalah 'tua'. Apalagi saat salah seorang yang hadir akan berulang tahun dalam waktu relatif dekat. Topik itu bisa dipastikan akan muncul.

Tua itu membawa problem'nya sendiri, seperti stamina menurun, daya tahan melemah, keriput, dll. Yup, tua itu susah dan repot... XD 

Tapi sebenarnya, gw pribadi daripada segudang masalah diatas, merasa perubahan yang paling utama lebih secara psikologis. Gw nggak merasa stamina menurun, atau keriput tambah. (Iya, memang gw sok nggak sadar kalau udah tua... ;p)

Salah satu contohnya, bercandaan yang beberapa tahun lalu gw akan anggap itu lucu banget, sekarang gw anggap keterlaluan. Misalnya saat seorang teman berpikir untuk mengerjai teman yang lain yang bisa berakhir mempermalukan teman yang dikerjai (mempermalukan di hadapan orang lain di luar grup pertemanan maksudnya) gw langsung menganggap itu keterlaluan. Satu atau dua tahun yang lalu gw bakalan semangat banget dengan bercandaan seperti itu.

Perubahan yang lain, gw semakin cuek. Gw selalu sedikit antisosial. Tetapi jika beberapa tahun yang lalu seorang teman berbeda pendapat, atau berselisih paham, baik dengan ge ataupun dengan teman yang lain, gw akan berusaha memperbaiki hubungan. Minimal, gw bakalan kepikiran. Sekarang? I just don't care. Karena sekarang gw berpikir, seharusnya kita sudah cukup dewasa untuk menyelesaikan sesuatu dengan berbicara, bukan dengan ngambek dan perang dingin kaya anak TK.

Untuk perubahan yang menurut gw lebih positif, gw merasa saat ini gw lebih bisa menerima perbedaan. Gw jaman beberapa tahun yang lalu, jika menemukan sesuatu yang berbeda, bakalan berpikir itu aneh. Sekarang, gw bisa menerima hal yang berbeda tersebut seperti apa adanya. Ribet ya? Contohnya begini, beberapa tahun yang lalu gw melihat seorang teman yang hobi menambahkan merica ke setiap kali dia minum soda. Saat itu, gw mengernyitkan kening dan bilang "Iiiih... Aneh banget sih..."

Kejadian yang mirip akhir-akhir ini terjadi saat gw melihat seorang teman suka membasahi nasinya sebelum makan, dengan air putih, dan saat pertama kali gw tahu, dan gw nggak berkomentar, si teman malah heran. Dia berkata, "Baru kali ini loh, ada yang ngelihat gw makan kaya gini dan nggak berkomentar apa-apa."

Dan saat itu gw baru sadar, gw nggak menganggap kebiasaannya itu aneh, gw cuma berpikir, ya emang begitu caranya makan. Beberapa tahun yang lalu, gw pasti sudah berkomentar panjang lebar.

Sepertinya penuaan gw lebih ke psikologis duluan daripada fisik. Secara fisik gw berasa masih sama seperti 10 tahun yang lalu tuh... ;p

Onomatope

Di timeline twitter hari ini, tiba-tiba muncul pertanyaan kenapa senjata di luar negeri bunyinya 'bang bang' sedang di Indonesia bunyinya 'dor dor'. Menarik, secara gw sering penasaran dengan hal-hal nggak penting kaya gini. Hal ini disebut dengan onomatope/ onomatopoeia. Artinya kurang lebih tiruan suara atau bunyi.

Lalu, kenapa bisa berbeda antara satu negara dengan negara yang lain? Menurut analisis gw sendiri, perbedaan itu karena adanya perbedaan bahasa, logat dan dialek. Dengan perbedaan bahasa, berbeda pula cara pengucapan tiap abjad yang ada. Misalnya, huruf 'k' dalam bahasa Indonesia dibaca sebagai 'ka', sedangkan dalam bahasa Inggria, dibaca 'kei'. Otomatis, hal ini berpengaruh juga pada pendengaran masing-masing orang. Istilah gampangnya 'telinganya beda'.

Menarik untuk mencari tahu pengucapan beberapa bunyi yang berbeda-beda di negara-negara tertentu. Beberapa terdengar lucu, beberapa tak masuk akal, sementara yang lain terdengar wajar.

Beberapa contohnya:

Suara anjing dalam bahasa Inggris: 'woof woof', dalam bahasa Indonesia: "guk guk", dalam bahasa Jepang: 'wan wan'.

Suara bebek dalam bahasa Inggris: 'quack quack', dalam bahasa Indonesia: 'kwek kwek, dalam bahasa Jepang: 'ga ga'.

Suara senapan dalam bahasa Inggris: 'bang bang', dalam bahasa Indonesia: 'dor dor', dalam bahasa Belanda: 'dur dur'.

Budget traveler itu kasihan?

Hari ini, di twitter ada yang tanya kepada seorang travel writer “bagaimana kita harus menyikapi kalau ada yang berpendapat budget traveler itu ‘kasian’”. Gw sendiri jadi gatal pingin berkomentar meski bukan gw yang ditanya. Jadi, di sinilah gw mau menumpahkan uneg-uneg.

Sebenarnya, menurut gw pribadi sih, budget traveler bukanlah orang yang patut dikasihani. Baik budget traveler karena emang pelit, emang dia pinginnya begitu, atau emang karena ga punya duit. Percaya deh, traveling hemat itu bakal dapat pengalaman jauh lebih banyak. Dan itu yang bikin kita lbih ‘kaya’.

Kita bisa lebih berbaur lebih baik dengan masyarakat sekitar, maupun dengan traveler lain. Dan hal ini akan banyak membawa pengalaman dan petualangan baru. Traveling hanya sekedar ‘melihat’ tempat tujuan malah sama sekali nggak berkesan buat gw.

Contohnya, pernah nih waktu di Penang, seharian ambil city tour. Dan seperti biasa, jadwal tour dikemas padat. Hasilnya, baru setahun tapi ga ada kesan yang nempel di gw. Bahkan gw sudah lupa waktu itu kemana aja. 

Pernah waktu di Changi, gw ketemu serombongan oom dan tante asal yang kesulitan cari jalan keluar. Ternyata, karena baru sekali ini pergi sendiri. Biasa sih dengan rombongan tur, jadi tahu-tahu sampai di tujuan.

Saudara yang pernah pergi ke Korea, waktu ditanya kesannya cuma “Dingin, khan pas salju.” Jauh-jauh ke Korea cuma dapat kesan salju itu dingin? Ternyata disana cuma keliling mall-hotel-tempat wisata dengan jadwal padat ala tur mahal.

Seorang teman yang pernah ke Singapore berkali-kali bilang bosan karena cuma itu-itu aja isinya. Ternyata dia belum pernah merasakan enaknya chestnut panggang di Chinatown, serunya beli Turkish ice cream di Clarke Quay, atau hampir tepar kecapekan karena kebanyakan jalan dan tersesat di stasiun MRT. Soalnya semua serba terjamin dengan tinggal di hotel mewah di Orchard, kemana-mana naik taxi, makan di mall atau di restoran mahal.

Seorang blogger asal Singapore yang pernah beberapa kali ke Thailand, ternyata belum pernah nyobain nikmatnya street food di Bangkok atau Phuket, atau bahkan sekedar melihat Khaosan road.. Trus ngapain aja di Thailand? Keliling tempat wisata, mall, dan hotel. Sudah, itu aja.

Seorang teman yang membuat program tur murah, 1,25jt belum include tiket pesawat untuk 3 hari 2 malam, tempat tujuannya cuma wat arun, reclining Budha, dan pattaya dengan hari efektif cuma sehari aja. Dengan jumlah uang yang sama, gw dulu di Bangkok 3 malam, makan sampai kekenyangan tiap hari, dan belanja. Kok bisa? Karena gw tidur di hotel murah, makan murah, dan kemana-mana naik bus atau jalan kaki.

Padahal  menurut gw, street food Thailand enak, murah dan top banget. Mulai sosis (nggak halal) gedhe seharga 10 bath, barbeque cumi-cumi saos pedas 25 bath, crab stick super gedhe 10 bath, dan banyak lagi. Gw bahkan sudah nemu penjual thai tea super enak di Bangla road Phuket karena nggak sengaja lewat pas kehausan karena kebanyakan jalan. Juga dapat sandal jepit doraemon yang enak dipake, cute dan murah di 7-11 yang nyelip di tengah-tengah Khaosan Road.

Bukan cuma itu, karena budget traveling ke Semarang, gw jadi tahu kalau ada kereta  api bisa berhenti di tengah sawah karena penumpangnya mau turun. Rasanya persis kaya naik angkot. Atau waktu gw naik motor main ke Jogja, gw jadi mendapati di salah satu gerai bakpia harganya beda antara bermobil, bermotor, dan berbecak. Sekedar informasi, bermotor dapat harga paling murah. dan waktu ke Jogja berikutnya naik kereta, otomatis gw harus sering jalan kaki, karena itu gw mendapati banyak yang menyewakan jasa charge handphone seharga 2000 rupiah di pinggir jalan. Kreatif juga caranya cari duit.

Jadi, kalau kebetulan kamu seorang budget traveler, ga usah dipikirin apa kata orang. Yang penting sih kamu senang, nyaman, bisa menikmati, ya sudah. Toh masing-masing cara traveling ada keuntungan dan kerugiannya sendiri.

Review:

Game ini lumayan asyik buat mengisi waktu luang. Dalam tiap chapternya ada 20 level yang harus diselesaikan. pada level-level awal, masih terasa gampang dan simple. semakin tinggi level yang kita mainkan tentunya akan semakin rumit. Tetapi meskipun pada beberapa level cukup rumit dan memeras otak, tetapi sejauh ini - saya baru sampai chapter kedua- selalu ada cara untuk mendapatkan 3 bintang di tiap levelnya.

Nb. Karakter game ini imut banget.. >o<  Gyaaak~~ Nom Nom Nom~~
